To maintain urban safety and hygiene, the Southern Municipality has executed a campaign to remove illegal street vendors in the Ras Zuwayed area, specifically in blocks 951 and 952. This initiative was carried out in collaboration with the Southern Governorate’s Police Directorate and relevant authorities. During this operation, municipal authorities confiscated 43 display mats and platforms used to sell a variety of goods, including damaged vegetables, spoiled fruits, and improperly stored fish that failed to meet health regulations. Additionally, four vehicles and buses used by these vendors for illicit sales were seized. This crackdown highlights the ongoing illegal commercial activities conducted by street vendors who lack the necessary permits from the official entities. The campaign forms part of the municipality’s broader efforts to curb unsightly practices that undermine the urban environment and do not comply with health and safety standards.
