The Ministry of Transportation and Telecommunications has published a list of 323 licensed individuals and companies providing student transport services in Bahrain. Updated yesterday, the list includes 259 individual drivers and 64 companies operating multiple vehicles. The ministry urged parents to ensure they choose licensed transporters to guarantee student safety and protect their rights. It stressed that the publication of the list is part of the ministry’s efforts to regulate the student transport sector and provide safe, reliable services. The General Directorate of Traffic previously had called earlier for verification of driver licenses issued by the Ministry of Transportation and Telecommunications, emphasising the importance of ensuring student safety. It warned that legal action will be taken against licensed drivers. The average cost of roundtrip student transport ranges from BD20 to BD40 per month, depending on distance. For example, transport from Sitra to Isa Town costs between BD35 and BD40 monthly (round trip), while a one-way trip is around BD25. The cost from Muharraq to the University of Bahrain in Sakhir is capped at BD40.
