A research study conducted by Dr. Ali Yousif and Dr. Nawraa Mujbel from the Radiology Department at Salmaniya Medical Complex won the Best Research Award at the ninth edition of the Annual Radiology Meeting in UAE (ARM 2024). The study was titled “Frequency and Patterns of Recurrent CT Pulmonary Angiography Examinations in Patients with Sickle Cell Anemia: A Retrospective Study (2013–2024).” The study highlights the necessary balance between accurate diagnosis and reduced radiation exposure in patients who require frequent examinations through their results. The researchers seek to improve patient care by suggesting more efficient imaging protocols, reduce radiation exposure, improve the allocation of radiation resources, and enhance the clinical outcomes for those with chronic conditions such as sickle cell anemia. ARM 2024 gathered leading specialists in the field to discuss the latest developments and innovations. It also provided a platform for researchers to share their work with the scientific community and exchange knowledge and experiences.
