Medical errors have cost Bahrain’s public hospitals and primary care centers 100,000 dinars, according to the National Health Regulatory Authority (NHRA).This figure was disclosed in response to a parliamentary inquiry by MP Mahmood Fardan. The NHRA emphasized that Bahrain’s healthcare system operates under a framework designed to provide safe and reliable services. It also highlighted the established procedures in place to address claims of medical errors. In its response, the NHRA noted that rigorous inspections are conducted to ensure high health standards across both public and private healthcare providers in the Kingdom. To protect patient rights, the NHRA has implemented measures aimed at reducing medical mishaps. However, it stressed that filing a complaint does not automatically indicate a medical error, as determining whether an error has occurred is the responsibility of specialized technical groups.
