Kuwait’s Ministry of Islamic Affairs has issued a directive prohibiting imams and muezzins from using mosques for commercial advertising, in line with a fatwa from the Ministry’s Iftaa Authority. The fatwa emphasizes that mosques are sacred places of worship and should not be used to promote products, services, or commercial goods, as such actions conflict with their spiritual purpose. The directive aims to protect the integrity of mosques and prevent their exploitation for profit-driven activities. A circular has been sent to mosques across the country, urging adherence to the fatwa and emphasizing that mosques should not be used as platforms for advertising or commercial purposes. Authorities have stressed the importance of keeping mosques dedicated to religious and community functions, free from any commercial influence. Strict actions will be taken against violators to uphold the sanctity of these sacred spaces.
