Presidential election: Aouchiche commits to restructuring national economy

JIJEL — The candidate of the Socialist Forces Front for the September 7 presidential election, Youcef Aouchiche, committed on Friday in Jijel to restructuring the national economy as per the specificities of each region of the country.

Leading a meeting in downtown Jijel on day nine of the election campaign, Aouchiche promised the restructuring of the national economy by setting up “industrial and agricultural hubs” capable of weaning the country off its hydrocarbon dependency.

“Our country has everything it needs to build a diversified and integrated economy that takes into account the specificities and potentialities of each region,” Aouchiche added.

Touching upon development in Jijel province, the candidate pointed out that “several countries with far fewer tourism assets than ours have managed, through investment and good management, to make this sector their main source of income.” He committed to “back investors in the fishing sector and crack down on speculation that drives up fish prices.”

The candidate also outlined the key points of his electoral program “Vision for Tomorrow” that primarily addresses social issues, mirroring the importance he places on “protecting vulnerable groups and preserving citizens’ purchasing power.”

To achieve this, the Socialist Forces Front party candidate proposes a range of measures including revising the salary scale, setting up allowances for vulnerable groups and promoting job-creating investment projects in different sectors while respecting each region’s specificities.
