Independent candidate Abdelmadjid Tebboune aims for strong, competitive economy

MEDEA — The Secretary General of the National Liberation Front (FLN) party, Abdelkrim Benmbarek, affirmed Monday in Medea that the independent candidate for the September 7 Presidential election, Abdelmadjid Tebboune, intends to continue reforms to gradually shift from a hydrocarbon-based economy to a strong and competitive one.

Speaking at a rally in Medea’s "Imam Ilyes" sports complex on the 12th day of the electoral campaign for the September 7 presidential election, the FLN Secretary General said that since his 2019 election, Abdelmadjid Tebboune has initiated economic and financial reforms that will allow the country to move from a hydrocarbon-based economy to a strong and competitive one.

Benmbarek assured that “independent candidate Abdelmadjid Tebboune is particularly focused on reforming local authorities and intends to guarantee broad prerogatives to elected Assemblies in the upcoming revision of municipal and provincial codes.”

Electing the independent candidate Abdelmadjid Tebboune would ensure the continuation of the reforms undertaken so far and build on the achievements made during his first term, he said.

In this regard, he highlighted the “substantial” financial efforts made to address concerns in underdeveloped areas, which amounted to over DZD17 billion in Medea alone.

Benmbarek concluded by urging citizens to turn out in large numbers on election day to renew their trust in the independent candidate Abdelmadjid Tebboune.
