The sowers of despair, the vindictive, the embittered, the know-it-alls and even the soothsayers make up this faction which, with shovels and pickaxes slung over shoulders, is waiting to see Algeria fall apart to bury it and pour the last shovelfuls of sand on its coffin.
But Algeria, unshakeable, will always stand firm. As for those disillusioned on the quayside of history, they can keep on waiting for Godot.
Their impatience with Algeria's rise is futile. Resolute and bold, the country will continue to move forward, indifferent to the manoeuvres designed to trip it up. Algeria's democratic vitality and remarkable dynamism were enough to excite the pruritus of those malevolent spirits determined to put the brakes on its ascent.
But Algeria will always stand firm in the face of torrents of hatred. Yes, they are so unable to bear the prospect of a new, prosperous and influential Algeria. Have they forgotten where Algeria comes from?
Do they fail to recognise the strength and resilience of the Algerian people? Are they unaware of the strong link between the Army and its people?
After a heroic war against a genocidal colonial France, Algeria has not only regained its independence, it has changed the course of human history.
