Preliminary results of presidential election: Three candidates’ campaign managers release joint statement

ALGIERS-The campaign managers of the three candidates for the September 7 presidential election released Sunday a joint statement, in which they reported “inaccuracies, contradictions, ambiguities and inconsistencies” noted in the preliminary results announced by the President of the National Independent Authority for Elections (ANIE).

“We, the undersigned, campaign directorates of the three candidates for the 7 September 2024, Aouchiche Youcef, candidate of the Front of Socialist Forces (FFS), independent candidate Abdelmadjid Tebboune, and Hassani Cherif Abdelaali, candidate of the Movement of Society for Peace (MSP), inform the national public opinion that inaccuracies, contradictions, ambiguities and inconsistencies” noted in the preliminary results announced by the President of the National Independent Authority for Elections (ANIE).

The document refers to “inaccuracies and contradictions in the voter turnout announced by the ANIE president and the vote counting and concentration reports submitted by the communal and provincial electoral commissions.”

The campaign managers also focused on “the ambiguity of the communiqué announcing the provisional results of the presidential election, which did not include most of the essential data of the statements announcing the results, as is customary in elections,” also reporting “an inconsistency in the rates announced for each candidate.”[/ecr]
