Preliminary results of presidential election: Hassani Cherif fills appeal to Constitutional Court

ALGIERS- The candidate of the Movement of Society for Peace (MSP) for the September 7 Presidential election, Abdelaali Hassani Cherif, has filled, on Tuesday, an appeal to the Constitutional Court concerning the preliminary results of this election announced last Sunday by the president of the National Independent Authority of Elections (ANIE), Mohamed Charfi.

Hassani Cherif went to the Constitutional Court accompanied by his campaign director, Ahmed Sadouk.

It’s worth noting that Hassani Cherif had affirmed, in a press conference on Monday, that the figures presented by ANIE were "imprecise" and "inconsistent with the vote-counting reports obtained by the MSP from ANIE's provincial delegations", specifying that he intended to "complain to the Constitutional Court".

The campaign directorates of the three candidates for the Presidential election of 7 September published on Sunday a joint communiqué to inform the public opinion that “imprecisions, contradictions, ambiguities and inconsistencies” were recorded in the figures when announcing the provisional results of the presidential election.
