General Chanegriha discusses with Chief of General Staff of Mauritanian Armed Forces

ALGIERS- The Chief of Staff of the People’s National Army, General Saïd Chanegriha, held Wednesday, on the second day of his official visit to Mauritania, talks with Lieutenant General El Mokhtar Bolle Chaabane, Chief of General Staff of the Mauritanian Armed Forces, the Ministry of the National Defense said in a statement.

"On the second day of his visit to the Islamic Republic of Mauritania, and at the invitation of his Mauritanian counterpart, General Saïd Chanegriha, Chief of Staff of the People’s National Army, visited this Wednesday, 16 October 2024, the headquarters of the General Staff of the Mauritanian Armed Forces, where he was welcomed by Lieutenant General El Mokhtar Bolle Chaabane," said the same source.

Following the welcome ceremony and honours paid to him by a military formation of different forces, General Chanegriha held talks with Lieutenant General El Mokhtar Bolle Chaabane, "where both parties exchanged analyses and viewpoints on matters of common interest, and discussed various security challenges facing the region and the world."

 

The bilateral discussions, held at the Armed Forces Conference Center, expanded to include delegations from both nations. The focus was on assessing current multifaceted military cooperation and exploring ways to enhance these partnerships to reflect the strong ties between the two nations' armed forces.

 

During this meeting, General Said Chanegriha made a speech in which "he extended his thanks to his Mauritanian counterpart for the warm welcome and marks of hospitality that were extended to him since his arrival in the brother country Mauritania," while expressing "his conviction in the capacity of both countries to strengthen the bonds of brotherhood and friendship between the two countries and peoples," emphasized the statement.

General Chanegriha emphasized the importance of strengthening joint action between both parties through continuous cooperation and coordination, particularly in light of the current regional and international geostrategic situation that has introduced new security challenges.

For his part, Lieutenant General El Mokhtar Bolle Chaabane "welcomed, in the speech he delivered on this occasion, the strength of bilateral military cooperation relations between the two brotherly countries, which will be further reinforced thanks to this visit," before thanking the Army General, Chief of Staff of the People’s National Army for honouring his invitation, added the same source.
