“We are grateful to the President of the Republic, Abdelmadjid Tebboune, for his important role in supporting the unity and stability of the Libyan state, as well as for his constant commitment to Libya's territorial integrity,” said El-Menfi in a joint statement to the press with the President of the Republic, at the end of their talks at the headquarters of the Presidency of the Republic.

El-Menfi said that the two parties agreed that “the solution to the political process in Libya lies in the organization of parliamentary and presidential elections” and that “any other solution will not produce the desired result.”

The Libyan people are the only ones entitled to choose who will represent them at the head of the State, he continued.

The president of the Libyan Presidential Council commended Algeria's important role in supporting Libya's stability in various international forums, noting that this support “is sincere and not for any other purpose.”

He stressed that the two parties had agreed to pursue efforts aimed at the stability of Libya and the entire region, while working to “complete tripartite meetings, whether at summit or commission levels, over the next period, in addition to consolidating the strategic partnership between the two countries.

After thanking the President of the Republic for his warm welcome, El-Menfi expressed the hope that the success of the presidential elections in Algeria and Tunisia would encourage Libya to organize a presidential election as soon as possible.[/ecr]
