ALGIERS- The Vice-President of the People’s National Assembly (Lower House of Parliament), Ahcene Hani, met on Tuesday in Caracas with the President of the Venezuelan National Assembly, Jorge Rodriguez Gomez, on the sidelines of the World Parliamentary Forum against Fascism and Neo-Fascism, the Lower House said in a press release.

During this meeting, the two parties discussed “several international issues of common interest, mainly the two just Palestinian and Sahrawi causes,” said the press release.

In this respect, Hani expressed the Lower House’s readiness, particularly through the Algeria-Venezuela parliamentary friendship group, to “intensify dialogue and bolster cooperation so as to confront fascism and neo-fascism.”

Hani also stressed the importance of “strengthening parliamentary relations and ramping up consultation and coordination in international fora,” while expressing his “pride in the longstanding friendship between the Algerian and Venezuelan peoples.”

The President of the Venezuelan National Assembly highlighted “the solid Algerian-Venezuelan relations.”

He further applauded Algeria’s stance on “rejecting any form of hegemony and fascism.”

He noted that “Algeria, which suffered from fascist colonialism, stands as a school of liberation and occupies a special place in Latin America,” concluded the same source.[/ecr]
