Prime Minister inaugurates 27th Algiers International Book Fair

ALGIERS — The Prime Minister, Nadir Larbaoui, chaired on Wednesday the official inauguration ceremony of the 27th Algiers International Book Fair “SILA”, organized from November 6-16 at the “SAFEX” Exhibition Centre, Pins Maritimes, Algiers, under the high patronage of the President of the Republic, Abdelmadjid Tebboune.

At the official inauguration ceremony of the book fair, Prime Minister Larbaoui was accompanied by the advisor to the President of the Republic, in charge of education, higher education, vocational training and culture, Mohamed Seghir Saadaoui, members of the government, the Minister of Culture of the State of Qatar, guest of honor of this edition, Cheikh Abdelrahman bin Hamad Al Thani and members of the diplomatic corps accredited in Algeria.

The Prime Minister toured several exhibitor stands at the fair, beginning with the stand of the People's National Army (PNA) in the central pavilion. There, he inquired about the publications of the National Center for Studies and Research in Algerian Military History, the Superior Military School of Information and Communication, as well as the National Center for Military Publications, which publishes the magazine “El Djeich.”

The 27th SILA—Algeria's premier cultural event—is being held under the theme “We Read to Triumph,” coinciding with the celebration of the 70th anniversary of the outbreak of the Glorious Revolution of November 1st.

The fair welcomes the participation of 1,007 publishers from 40 countries, including 290 Algerian publishers, who are presenting over 300,000 book titles.
