Upper House totally rejects blatant interference in Algeria’s domestic affairs

ALGIERS- The Council of the Nation (Parliament’s Upper House) expressed on Thursday its “firm condemnation” and “total reject” of any blatant interference in Algeria’s domestic affairs, urging the members of the European Parliament, who allow themselves to discuss freedom of expression in Algeria, to demand that their capitals "conform" to the decisions of the International Criminal Court (ICC) and to take action against "Zionist war criminals.”

"The Bureau of the Council of the Nation, under the chairmanship of mujaheed Salah Goudjil, the speaker of the Council of the Nation, expresses its firm condemnation, indignation, and total rejection of any blatant interference in Algeria’s domestic affairs,” the Parliament’s Upper House said in a press release.

In this regard, the Council of the Nation urged "the members of the European Parliament, who have disavowed their positions, supported in this by French neo-colonial lobbies reminiscent of their abject past, and that allow themselves, once again, with an unprecedented arrogance, baseness, and lightness, to pronounce and discuss on liberties and freedom of expression in Algeria, as well as on an internal matter of a sovereign State, to demand from their capitals and official authorities the strict implementation of the law, and to unconditionally conform to the decisions of the International Criminal Court by pursuing and arresting the Zionist war criminals, responsible for an extermination war and ethnic cleansing imposed on Gaza for fourteen months, under the gaze of a mostly spectator world, except for a few who have prevailed with the truth and the voices of their consciences".

In this respect, he pointed out that "these very actors provide cover for their favored Zionist entity, shielding its criminal and murderous leadership".

"They turn a deaf ear, close their eyes, and deny their consciences, while accusing - with their eternal redundant refrain and worn-out rhetoric under the pretext of “antisemitism” any voice rising to defend the truth and criticize this pariah, colonial, and Nazi state, which humiliates the international system, as attested by the International Criminal Court, the United Nations General Assembly, and various UN resolutions,” he deplored.

"They hasten to be indignant, hypocritically, under the pretext of defending human rights and freedom of expression when it comes to the internal affairs of a sovereign state, which defends its religious and civilizational honour and acts, in accordance with legal frameworks, against any imposter, and their supporters, that attacks, mocks, or questions its identity, territorial unity, or history,” he underlined.

"Unsurprisingly, this reflects their version of democracy and freedom: a selectively crafted perspective viewed through deliberately skewed lenses,” he lamented.

The Bureau of the Council of the Nation reaffirmed that “the victorious Algeria, under the leadership of the President of the Republic, Abdelmadjid Tebboune, enshrines the freedom of expression in the Constitution of 1st November 2020, guaranteed by a national legislative framework that respects the nation’s principles and the Republic’s laws.”
