President Tebboune extends condolences on death of former national coach Mahieddine Khalef

ALGIERS-The President of the Republic, Abdelmadjid Tebboune, presented on Tuesday his sincere condolences to the family of the late Mahieddine Khalef, former coach of the national football team, who passed away at the age of 80.

“I learned, with deep affliction, of the death of Mahieddine Khalef, the former coach of the national football team, may All-Powerful Allah grant him His holy mercy and welcome him into His vast paradise. In this painful ordeal, we present our sincere condolences to the family of the deceased and to the entire sports family.”

The deceased had a rich and exceptional sporting record. Passionate about football since a very young age, he wore the colours of JSK and contributed to training the club, snatching several titles.

He was also part of the technical staff of the national team and refined his skills with high-level training in the world’s greatest schools,” reads the condolence message.

“The late Mahieddine Khalef was the architect of numerous glories of the national team, such as the epic of Gijon at the 1982 World Cup. He was known for his moral values and loyalty to national sports.
