"Algeria welcomes the declaration made by the Federal Republic of Somalia and the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia to find common solutions to overcome their outstanding differences and hold technical negotiations for this purpose," the statement said.

Algeria, according to the statement, expresses "its hope that the agreement, in line with the Algerian approach advocating the settlement of conflicts through dialogue and peaceful means, contributes to bringing the two countries closer, establishing a sustainable security and mobilising efforts and energies for the region's development and prosperity."

Algeria commended "the mediation efforts of the Republic of Turkey, a sister country, to reach the agreement," the statement added.
