Chairing at the Palace of Nations, in Algiers, the opening of the Government-Governors meeting under the theme “Local Communities: driving force of national development,” the President of the Republic said in a speech: “we have succeeded in establishing governance based on equity in development and rigor in the management of public funds.”
The President of the Republic underscored that he intended to ensure that this meeting would be “dedicated to addressing local development concerns.”
“We are called upon to continue our efforts to establish modern working methods,” he said.
In this regard, he recalled the establishment of an expert commission tasked with preparing draft municipal and provincial codes to “remove obstacles” and establish municipalities and provinces as “pillars of local development.”
“The time has come to re-examine the municipal and provincial codes to build democratic, not demagogic institutions, by giving more prerogatives to local elected officials,” said the President of the Republic.
