During a conference on “The Ministry’s media policy facing challenges affecting the internal front,” recently held at “Ali Kafi” Higher School of War, the minister warned against the danger of relying on unofficial or suspicious sources for information, particularly electronic sites that can be tools for spreading rumours and distorting facts, reported El Djeich Magazine in its latest issue.

In this respect, Meziane emphasized “the importance of accuracy” in this field, being an “essential value in information processing,” noting the danger of cyberspace which has become “an open field for negative influence on social cohesion.”

He recalled that his department has adopted “an integrated policy” to strengthen the information system through “the production of targeted media content that reflects the image of Algeria as a triumphant and strong State, while defending national values.”

This policy also includes continuing to host electronic sites, in addition to modernizing and securing the communication sector’s infrastructure.

The Minister of Communication also emphasized “the great interest that the State, under the leadership of the President of the Republic, gives to the information sector,” highlighting the efforts made to “bring necessary support to the sector.”

The minister finally insisted on the importance of strengthening the rigor of control mechanisms in accordance with current laws, in a world where information has become the main tool for defending the interests of peoples and nations.
