Chaib meets members of Algerian community established in Tunisia

ALGIERS — The Secretary of State to the Minister of Foreign Affairs, in charge of the National Community Abroad, Sofiane Chaib, conducted Sunday a visit to the Republic of Tunisia, where he met with members of the national community established in this brotherly country, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, National Community Abroad and African Affairs said in a statement.

“This visit is part of ongoing efforts to monitor the implementation of the conclusions from President Abdelmadjid Tebboune's meeting with community members during his visit to Tunisia in December 2021,” the statement said.

During the meeting, the Secretary of State affirmed “the Government's commitment to implementing presidential directives focused on safeguarding the national community abroad and enhancing their role in national development.”

The meeting, which took place in a fraternal and convivial atmosphere, provided an opportunity to inquire about the situation of “members of our community established in Tunisia and to listen to their concerns and aspirations.”

The Secretary of State also underscored “the major importance accorded by the country's highest authorities to citizens established abroad, as part of a renewed strategy based on participation, listening and effective management of their needs and aspirations,” the same source noted.

During this interactive discussion, members of the diaspora expressed satisfaction with the meeting, while commending the tangible efforts and decisions made by the President of the Republic to better address their concerns, the statement concluded.
