At a ceremony held Tuesday at the Chinese embassy in Algiers, attended by Yang Wanming, president of the Chinese People's Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries (CPAFFC), the Chinese ambassador stated that China and Algeria “are natural partners connected by long-standing friendship, with Algeria pioneering as the first nation to forge a comprehensive strategic partnership with China.”

The Chinese diplomat underscored the “exceptional character of Sino-Algerian relations, particularly in terms of historical relations,” noting the countries share a history marked by solidarity and cooperation.

He further noted that China was “the first non-Arab state to recognize the Provisional Government of the Algerian Republic (GPRA).”

The ambassador acknowledged “Algeria's backing of China's return to the United Nations in 1971” and pointed to several joint projects as evidence of successful bilateral cooperation.
