[ecr]After receiving a sharp response regarding France's supposed public development aid to Algeria, these media outlets are now unearthing the old file about alleged debt to French hospitals.
Claims about unpaid medical bills owed by Algeria to French hospitals are based on lies and bad faith, fueling this hateful campaign against Algeria - a campaign where any attack seems permissible.
Should these polemicists in the service of the French far-right be reminded that Algeria has paid in full for services under the Franco-Algerian social security convention for care provided to Algerian nationals in France.
From 2010 to 2019, €93,700,815.64 was transferred to French hospitals. From 2020 to 2024, no less than €23,263,322.55 followed the same path.
Algeria always pays its debts when they are properly justified.
Isn't it Algiers that continuously requests the French side to hold a joint commission meeting to settle its claims of €2,537,194.23 (hospitalization costs from 2018 to 2024), a sum that isn't particularly alarming.
This meeting, which the French side avoids, is crucial for determining the exact amounts owed. And only justified dues for services provided to Algerian citizens, as one shouldn't take advantage of Algeria's willingness to pay.
It's imperative that these bills actually correspond to Algerian citizens treated in French hospitals, under properly defined coverage protocols. It has become common practice in these French healthcare facilities to incorrectly label patients, likely non-Algerians, on Algiers' convenient "debt ledger."
Moreover, if these hate-driven French media are interested, Algeria no longer transfers its citizens to French hospitals.
