Speaking at a reception organized Thursday evening at “Moufdi Zakaria” Culture Palace (Algiers), on the occasion of the Chinese New Year, the Chinese ambassador affirmed that Algeria, which is “a great African, Arab, and Mediterranean country,” plays an important role in strengthening peace and development at regional and international levels, praising “Algeria’s support for just causes and its commitment to emerging countries” within the UN Security Council, in its capacity as a non-permanent member, a support which is “highly appreciated by China,” he said.

In this respect, he highlighted the “profound historical friendship” between China and Algeria, adding that “relations between the two countries have been further strengthened in recent years, as part of their common anti-colonial efforts, as well as for strengthening development and achieving world peace.”

“Sixty-seven years after establishing diplomatic relations, the two countries continue to maintain relations of trust, mutual respect, and reciprocal support,” which “are a model in relations between States,” he said.
