General Said Chanegriha receives phone call from U.S. Joint Chiefs Chairman

ALGIERS — General Said Chanegriha, Deputy Minister to the Minister of National Defense, Chief of Staff of the People's National Army (PNA), received a phone call from General Charles Brown, Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff of the United States of America, according to a statement released by the Ministry of National Defense on Monday.

“General Saïd Chanegriha, Deputy Minister to the Minister of National Defense, Chief of Staff of the PNA, received a phone call from the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff of the United States of America, General Charles Brown, on Monday, February 3rd, 2025, during which matters of common interest were discussed,” the same source said. 

The statement noted that the conversation followed the signing of a memorandum of understanding (MoU) on military cooperation between Algeria and the United States on January 22nd, 2025. The MoU was signed by General Chanegriha, representing Algeria, and General Michael Langley, Commander of U.S. Africa Command (AFRICOM), representing the United States.

Both parties expressed their “common desire to consolidate bilateral military cooperation. The discussions also provided an opportunity to address the current regional and international context,” the same source said.
