Algeria, Mauritania cooperation experience “exceptional leap”

ALGIERS-The Minister of Foreign Affairs, Cooperation and Mauritanians Abroad, Mohamed Salem Ould Merzoug, praised on Thursday “the exceptional leap” of the bilateral cooperation between Algeria and his country in recent years, emphasizing the importance of strengthening this cooperation.

In a statement following his audience with the President of the Republic, Abdelmadjid Tebboune, Ould Merzoug noted that he conveyed to the President “greetings from his brother and friend, President Mohamed Ould Cheikh El Ghazouani” and delivered a letter from him.

This letter is part of “the permanent consultation between the leaders of the two countries on matters of common interest, Algerian-Mauritanian cooperation, which has seen an exceptional leap in recent years,” as well as “matters of interest to the Arab-Muslim nation and the evolution of international relations,” he said.

During this audience, the President of the Republic, Abdelmadjid Tebboune, emphasized “the importance of consultation between the two brotherly countries, bound by long-standing relations,” stressed the Mauritanian minister, adding that the President asked him to convey “his greetings to his brother and friend, the President of the Islamic Republic of Mauritania.”

Ould Merzoug also underscored that he expressed his thanks to the President for his recent visit to Mauritania, on the occasion of the Continental Conference on Education, Youth and Employability, praising his important role during this event.

He also said that he conveyed to President Abdelmadjid Tebboune “President El Ghazouani’s willingness to deepen bilateral cooperation between Algeria and Mauritania.

The audience took place in the presence of the Chief of Staff at the Presidency of the Republic, Boualem Boualem, and the Minister of State, Minister of Foreign Affairs, National Community Abroad and African Affairs, Ahmed Attaf.
