In a press statement following his audience with the Lebanese President, Joseph Aoun, during his official visit as special envoy of the President of the Republic, Abdelmadjid Tebboune, Attaf congratulated the Lebanese president on his election and on completing the Lebanese government formation procedures, conveying Algeria’s wishes for success.
Lebanon is going through a delicate phase in its history, marked by the strengthening of its institutions, the revival of its economy and the restoration of security, he emphasized, affirming that at each of these stages “Algeria can only remain unswervingly at Lebanon’s side.”
Attaf delivered to the Lebanese President a letter from the President of the Republic, Abdelmadjid Tebboune, and conveyed to him his fraternal greetings and renewed his congratulations on the occasion of his election as President of the Lebanese Republic, while wishing him full success in carrying out his high functions.
The mission which he was entrusted is part of “Algeria’s unwavering support to Lebanon, regardless of circumstances,” he emphasized.
The minister said he discussed bilateral relations with the Lebanese President and agreed on the need to revive them, give them new momentum and expand their content.
The two parties also discussed Algeria’s (non-permanent) membership in the Security Council and its readiness to support Lebanon in all matters relating to the Lebanese file within the Council.
The two parties also addressed upcoming Arab deadlines and agreed on the need for close coordination as well as constant and regular consultation between Algeria and Lebanon, to contribute to the success of these deadlines, he added.
