At the start of this meeting, which took place in the presence of the deputy speaker of the People’s National Assembly (Lower House of Parliament), Monder Bouden, Boughali highlighted “the deep relations between the two countries, since their official establishment on 2 July 1962,” recalling “the great diplomatic support of former Yugoslavia to Algeria.”
In this regard, he proposed setting up an exhibition of photos and documents recording the depth of these historical ties.
According to Boughali, this meeting constitutes “a precious opportunity to review ways of strengthening cooperation in economic and commercial fields, particularly the opening of direct transport lines between the two countries, while giving special attention to promoting cultural exchanges,” added the press release.
At the parliamentary level, Boughali called for “the activation of dialogue and consultation between the parliaments of both countries, and the exchange of expertise and experiences, considering that parliamentary diplomacy is capable of strengthening relations between countries in various domains.”
As for the international level, Boughali condemned, once again, the European Parliament’s (EP) resolution concerning Algeria, as well as the French far-right’s campaigns, emphasizing that “yesterday’s occupier is not qualified to give lessons on human rights, especially since its history is stained with crimes including the preservation of Algerian resistance leaders’ skulls, as well as the nuclear explosions in the Reggane region whose effects still persist.”
Boughali also highlighted Algeria’s “unwavering” positions regarding the Sahrawi cause, calling for respect of United Nations (UN) resolutions, considering this cause as a decolonization issue.
The same official also called for the need to condemn the Zionist occupation’s massacres in Gaza and to prosecute Zionist war criminals while working towards implementing the two-State solution.
For her part, the Serbian ambassador welcomed “the depth of partnership and cooperation relations, as well as the political dialogue between the two countries,” assuring that she will commit, as part of her diplomatic mission, to “achieve a common vision for the future.”
Regarding parliamentary cooperation, the Serbian diplomat mentioned the need to strengthen political dialogue with the Algerian Parliament, in light of their diplomatic relations that were established during the glorious Liberation Revolution to become today friendship relations, expressing hopes to intensify visits between the two countries, with the aim of strengthening communication ties and bringing the two peoples closer together,” concluded the press release.
