Mansouri attends 42nd session of NEPAD’s Heads of State and Government Orientation Committee

 

ALGIERS – In her capacity as the Representative of the President of the Republic, Abdelmadjid Tebboune, the Secretary of State to the Minister of Foreign Affairs in charge of African Affairs, Selma Bakhta Mansouri, attended the proceedings of the 42nd session of the NEPAD Heads of State and Government Orientation Committee (HSGOC) and the African Union Development Agency (AUDA-NEPAD) on Monday. The session was held virtually under the chairmanship of Abdel Fattah Al-Sissi, President of the Arab Republic of Egypt, according to a communiqué from the ministry.

Mansouri reaffirmed “Algeria’s unwavering support for continental complementarity, infrastructure development, and Africa’s economic sovereignty,” stressing the importance of megaprojects for sustainable development, particularly “the Trans-Saharan Road and the Trans-Saharan Optical Fibre Backbone (TSB) Project,” the source stated.

In this regard, she emphasized “Algeria’s key role, under the enlightened leadership of the President of the Republic, Abdelmadjid Tebboune, in implementing these strategic projects,” noting that Algeria has already completed the construction of its section of the Trans-Saharan Road and is working in collaboration with the concerned countries to transform it into an economic corridor for trade and investment.

Mansouri also highlighted “the role of the Trans-Saharan Optical Fibre in supporting the continent’s digital transformation, improving interconnection between African countries, and strengthening digital infrastructure,” the source said.
