Attaf held discussions with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia, Gedion Timotheos, the Minister of International Relations and Cooperation of the Republic of South Africa, Ronald Lamola, the Minister of Foreign Affairs and East African Cooperation of the Federal Republic of Tanzania, Mahmoud Thabit Kombo, the Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of the Republic of Zambia, Mulambo Haimbe.
Attaf also held talks with the Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of the Federal Republic of Comoros, Mbae Mohamed, as well as the Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of the Republic of Gambia, Mamadou Tangara.
Attaf’s meeting with his Ethiopian counterpart “allowed for examining prospects of strengthening bilateral relations as part of preparations for holding the joint governmental commission, and examining the main issues on the agenda of the AU Executive Council and Summit.”
Furthermore, the minister discussed with his South African counterpart the main issues raised at the African level and reviewed the priorities of South Africa’s G20 presidency as well as preparations for Algeria’s participation in related meetings.”
The meeting between the Algerian and Tanzanian ministers was dedicated to examining preparations for high-level bilateral deadlines and ways and to continue supporting legitimate causes in Africa.
The Minister of State also discussed with his Zambian counterpart the prospects likely to boost bilateral cooperation and consolidate coordination at the level of the African Union (AU), notably since both countries are members of the Committee of 10 on the reform of the Security Council, said the press release.
Attaf reviewed with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Comoros ways to give fresh impetus to the bilateral relations and strengthen bilateral consultation at both the Arab and African levels.
The Minister of State examined with the Gambian Minister of Foreign Affairs, whose country chairs the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), “the ongoing discussions regarding the holding of an extraordinary meeting of the Organization’s Ministers of Foreign Affairs, on the developments of the Palestinian cause,” said the press release.
