The two-day hearing, held at UN headquarters in New York on February 13-14, brought together parliamentary representatives from across the globe alongside economics and sustainable development experts.
In a speech delivered on this occasion, Deputy Beldjilali highlighted “the importance of parliamentary oversight in supporting the development process,” citing Algeria’s experience in this field.
He further emphasized that the Algerian Constitution “clearly stipulates that the Prime Minister must present his action plan before Parliament,” emphasizing that “this plan, which includes work strategies to achieve development goals, is subject to general debate before being approved.”
The deputy also highlighted another mechanism that strengthens parliamentary oversight in Algeria, namely the General Policy Declaration, presented annually before the Parliament, containing a report on achievements relative to set objectives, allowing continuous evaluation of the implementation of government policies and their compliance with development goals, added the same source.
