The delegation is made up of the deputy speaker of the lower house, Monder Bouden, MPS Ahmed Beldjilali and Nabil Guend, and senators Kamel Khelifati and Abderrahmane Guenchouba.
During the meeting, Bouden welcomed "the efforts made by the Inter-Parliamentary Union to enhance multilateral parliamentary cooperation, being the oldest international parliamentary organisation."
The meeting focused on "the challenges facing the international multilateral institutions, hindering development and harming efficiency, in addition to topical international issues relating to security and global peace."
The meeting also focused on "the humanitarian situation in Palestine, especially the growing threats relating to forced displacement of Palestinians from Gaza, in addition to security crises in Africa, mainly Sudan and the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC)."
The deputy speaker of the lower house stressed "the commitment of the Algerian Parliament to work, within the framework of the multilateral cooperation, for the strengthening of partnership with the IPU, to achieve the union's strategic objectives for the period 2023-2027."
The president of the IPU commended the "dynamism of the Algerian parliamentary group within the Inter-Parliamentary Union," welcoming "Algeria's role at both governmental and parliamentarian levels, in support of international security and stability, mainly in Africa.
She added that she was aware of "the growing challenges threatening multilateral parliamentary action," insisting on the importance of "collective
solidarity and cooperation to face challenges and strengthen the role of international institutions in the achievement of global stability."
The meeting "reaffirms Algeria's commitment to boost international cooperation, defend just causes and contribute to the efforts to achieve peace and security worldwide."
