In this regard, the member of the upper house, Kamel Khelifati, in his capacity as a member of the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU), said during this session that Algeria established in 2020 the Algerian Agency for International Cooperation for Solidarity and Development.
“With funding of one billion USD, it aims to implement development projects in African countries,” he added.
He further noted that its activity mainly focused on “healthcare, water resources and education.”
Kamel Khelifati also highlighted Algeria’s membership in the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA), underscoring the country’s belief in the importance of African economic integration as well as the need for continental cooperation to boost economies, foster investment and establish solid links between African businesses.
In this regard, he stressed that “resolving the debt crisis, which hinders development policies in several countries requires coordinated efforts between public and private sectors as well as solidarity from international financial institutions toward vulnerable countries.”
