The President of the Republic, Abdelmadjid Tebboune has consistently affirmed that the valiant martyrs “remain the example to follow and a source of pride and inspiration,” emphasizing that successive generations of Algerians “draw their energy from the values of sacrifice, selflessness and courage of the valiant martyrs and their resilience in achieving noble national objectives.”

He also reaffirmed Algeria’s determination “to preserve its national memory,” adding that “the value of our martyrs is more important than any material compensation.”

The spiritual significance of these heroes extends far beyond occasional tributes, as many sacrificed their lives on the battlefield while others endured severe torture in prisons and detention camps. We must also remember those who were executed during the systematic crimes committed by the colonizer throughout 132 years of occupation.
