In an address at the third G20 ministerial meeting on Friday, held under the presidency of South Africa, Attaf said Algeria "fully supports the four priorities set by President Cyril Ramaphosa of South Africa in his opening address Thursday."
The Algerian Foreign minister welcomed the interest that he gives to the needs and aspirations of the continent, which "shows once again that South Africa was and still is a sincere and loyal defender of Africa's legitimate issues and ambitions."
In the meeting dedicated to the presentation of the goals of G20 in 2025, and the priorities of South Africa as president of the group, Attaf said Algeria believes that "it is high time to get serious about tackling the major challenges and obstacles to stability, development and integration in Africa."
There are three strategic objectives that deserve our attention, the minister said.
"The first is the reform of international financial and monetary institutions, as we need institutions genuinely representing today's world and responding effectively to the different challenges threatening the developing countries, especially African countries."
The second goal is linked to "the urgent need to address the debt crisis in Africa to meet the requirements of the continent's development, especially as Africa needs strong support from the G20 to overcome recurrent crises such as financial difficulties, climate change, food insecurity and the rise of conflicts," the minister said.
The third and last goal is "ensuring that international commitments to Africa are fulfilled, especially those relating to financial support, partnerships, capacity building and technology transfer, to speed up the achievement of sustainable development goals and African agenda 2063."
