Merad holds talks with Spanish counterpart in Madrid

ALGIERS-The Minister of Interior, Local Authorities and National Planning, Brahim Merad, met on Monday in Madrid with his Spanish counterpart, Fernando Grande-Marlaska Gomez, with whom he discussed prospects for cooperation between the interior sectors of the two countries, the ministry said in a press release.

“Merad held talks with his counterpart, Spanish Interior Minister, Fernando Grande-Marlaska Gomez, at the ministry’s headquarters in Madrid,” the noted the same source, adding that the meeting, which included delegations from both countries, “provided an opportunity to review prospects for bilateral cooperation between the two Interior sectors, particularly in areas related to National Security and Civil Protection.”

The meeting was an opportunity to “exchange expertise regarding the fight against cross-border crime and coordinate joint efforts to address common challenges,” the source concluded.
