The Secretary-General met with Assistant High Commissioner for Protection at the UNHCR, Ruvendrini Menikdiwela, Deputy High Commissioner for Human Rights at the United Nations, Nada Al-Nashif and Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation, in charge of multilateral issues, and Sergey Vershinin, the same source added.
The discussions between Magramane and Ruvendrini Menikdiwela focused on "measures aimed at enhancing coordination for the optimal handling of refugee affairs, Algeria's support for the UNHCR's role in strengthening humanitarian aid for Sahrawi refugees, as well as ways to ensure the optimal addressing of their concerns and aspirations," the source added.
This meeting also provided an opportunity to discuss bilateral cooperation and the efforts made by Algeria to ensure favorable conditions for the reception and support of refugees. [/ecr]
