During his official visit to Uruguay to attend the inauguration ceremony of the president-elect of Uruguay, Boughali was received by the vice-president and president of Parliament, Carolina Cosse.
Boughali congratulated the president-elect of Uruguay, emphasizing “the depth of bilateral relations as well as the will of both countries to strengthen them.”
In this respect, he praised “Uruguay’s consistent positions in favour of the Palestinian and Sahrawi causes,” said the same source.
In this regard, the two parties discussed ways to energize parliamentary cooperation through parliamentary diplomacy, with a view to consolidating relations and opening new prospects for partnership.
Boughali emphasized “the importance of strengthening dialogue between Africa and Latin America,” highlighting Algeria’s efforts to establish cooperation with parliaments in the region.
For her part, the president of the Uruguayan Parliament expressed her gratitude for Algeria’s participation in the inauguration ceremony of the president-elect of Uruguay, Yamandu Orsi, praising the role of parliamentary diplomacy in strengthening international relations.
She also affirmed the Uruguayan Parliament’s willingness to cooperate with Algeria, with a view to strengthening joint parliamentary action and supporting just causes in the international fora.
In the same vein, Boughali met, Friday in Montevideo, the president of the Chamber of Representatives of Uruguay, Valdomir Sebastian. This meeting allowed for exploring ways to consolidate parliamentary cooperation between the two countries and to activate parliamentary diplomacy in service of issues of common interest.
Boughali emphasized the importance of “creating a parliamentary friendship group between the two legislative institutions,” praising Uruguay’s positions in favour of the Sahrawi and Palestinian causes.
He also highlighted “the efforts of Algerian diplomacy in defending the rights of oppressed peoples.”
For his part, the President of the Chamber of Representatives of Uruguay reaffirmed his support for the right of the Sahrawi and Palestinian peoples to self-determination, highlighting the Algerian Revolution as “a source of inspiration” for oppressed peoples fighting for freedom.
Both parties agreed to continue coordination to strengthen parliamentary cooperation, serving the interests of both countries in the international fora , according to the same source.
