President of the Republic advocates consideration of African countries’ development priorities

NAIROBI-In an address to the International Development Association (IDA) Replenishment Summit, delivered on his behalf by Prime Minister, Nadir Larbaoui, the President of the Republic, Abdelmadjid Tebboune called on Monday for the development needs and national priorities of African countries to be considered in the 21st IDA replenishment process.

In this regard, the President of the Republic reaffirmed Algeria's support for all initiatives and mechanisms aimed at bridging the financing gap, increasing development aid and putting in place effective mechanisms to reduce the impact of debt, including debt cancellation and restructuring, as well as the suspension of debt services, particularly for the benefit of the least developed countries.

The President of the Republic called for policies linked to food and health security to be freed from purely economic approaches, particularly concerning access to food products and medicines

He also stressed the importance of mobilizing resources to support the efforts of these countries in all priority areas.

The President of the Republic also stressed the need to step up the pace of projects with an inclusive continental dimension and to implement the African Union (AU) 2063 agenda, recalling the efforts made by Algeria in this area, through an inclusive approach to its national projects and those implemented in neighbouring countries.[/ecr]
