President of the Republic highlights Algeria's qualitative progress in industrial sector

ALGIERS - At the opening of the 55th Algiers International Fair (FIA-2024) in Algiers on Monday, President of the Republic, Abdelmadjid Tebboune, highlighted the qualitative progress made by Algeria over the past few years, particularly in the industrial sector, stressing the need to continue efforts to strengthen and diversify agricultural production in order to contribute to self-sufficiency and boost exports.

While visiting the stand of Condor, a manufacturer of electronic products and household appliances, the President of the Republic said that this private company "can bring about a revolution in the sector," given the high demand for its products and their quality.

Meanwhile, he praised the company's efforts in manufacturing refrigerator compressors, of which some 3 million units out of a total production of 4.5 million will be exported, according to explanations given on the spot.

At the Cevital group stand, the President of the Republic stressed the need to achieve national oilseed production of between 2.5 and 3 million tonnes, which, he said, will remove barriers to exports and open the way for exports to neighbouring countries and the rest of the world, noting that the group contributes to the supply of animal feed.

At the Central Construction Company (ECC) stand, part of the Military Manufacturing Directorate of the Ministry of National Defence (MDN), the President of the Republic called on the company to participate in the building of the mining village planned for Gara Djebilet (Tindouf), with a view to supporting the implementation of this strategic project.

In his speech to representatives of the ECC, the President of the Republic said that Algeria "intends to build two to three field hospitals for the benefit of the Gaza Strip, to help the on-site medical teams and enable them to treat the wounded as the Zionist entity continues its genocidal war against the enclave."

The MDN representative said that the field hospital, which will be built in 10 to 15 days, will include a room for surgery and sterilisation and will be equipped with the most advanced medical equipment.

Again in the field of military production, the President of the Republic enquired about Algeria's latest achievements in this area, including a vehicle for transporting members of the various forces, in particular the special forces, trailer lorries and 4x4 all-terrain vehicles.

Before visiting the FIA stands, the President of the Republic heard a presentation by Minister of Trade and Export Promotion, Tayeb Zitouni, on the preliminary results of the national export promotion policy as part of the 2020-2030 strategy.

He also heard a presentation on the development of the Algiers International Fair over the last few years.

The President of the Republic then visited the Turkish stand, in the presence of Vice-President of the Republic of Turkey, Cevdet Yilmaz, whose country is the guest of honour at this exhibition, organized under the high patronage of the President of the Republic, and entitled "a gateway for exchanges and opportunities for partnership and investment."
