In statement he delivered to the press on this occasion, OATUU’s President commended Algeria’s efforts and the “multiform support” to the African workers through the Pan-African Trade Union Organization.

“Algeria has always been a supportive country to Africa,” he said, thanking Algeria and the President of the Republic, Abdelmadjid Tebboune, for “hosting the OATUU congress in Algiers.”

For his part, Bentaleb said that the visit of OATUU’s president allowed him to enquire about the efforts that Algeria is making to improve the socio-professional conditions of the Algerian workers, citing the salary and pensions raise, which shows that Algeria is in “the right path” and that it “gives a particular interest to its workers and their working conditions.”

The Secretary General of the General Union of Algerian Workers (UGTA), Amar Takdjout, said that Atwoli’s visit to Algeria is an opportunity to discuss Africans’ labour experience, highlighting the importance of a “better organization” for the African trade union organizations to be in accordance with the evolutions of the employment world.[/ecr]
