President Tebboune orders establishment of Algerian maritime works company

ALGIERS — The President of the Republic, Abdelmadjid Tebboune, ordered during the meeting of the Council of Ministers that he chaired on Monday the establishment of an Algerian company for major maritime works specialized in the development of ports, the Council of Ministers said in a statement.

After listening to a presentation related to the extension of the ports of Djen Djen and Annaba, the President of the Republic “instructed the Minister of Public Works, in coordination with the Prime Minister, to set up an Algerian company for major maritime works specialized in port development,” the statement said.

According to the same source, “President Tebboune ordered the extension of the port of Djen Djen in Jijel so that it can play a central role in the Mediterranean, and to speed up the extension of the port of Annaba by connecting it to the railway for the transport and marketing of phosphate from Bled El Hadba to Annaba,” the statement noted.

The President of the Republic also ordered the preparation of a national plan for the extension of several ports so as to improve their activity, the statement said.
