Bentaleb receives president of Iraq’s General Federation of Trade Unions

ALGIERS- The minister of Labour, Employment and Social Security, Faysal Bentaleb, received Wednesday in Algiers the president of the General Federation of Trade Unions in Iraq, the deputy secretary-general of the Arab Trade Union, Starr Danbous Barak, and his accompanied delegation, the ministry said in a press release.

During a meeting held in the presence of the secretary general of the General Union of Algerian Workers, Amar Takdjout, Starr Danbous commended Algeria’s “pioneering” experience in trade union rights and social dialogue, expressing his “wish that Algeria put its expertise at the service of union action."

He also highlighted the significance of “boosting joint action with the General Union of Algerian Workers and the Arab Trade Unions,” the statement added.

From his part, Bentaleb underscored Algeria’s experience in strengthening social dialogue and the exercise of trade union rights established in the constitution, showcasing the social achievements in profit of Algerian workers, “notably the rise of salaries and retirement pensions,” adding that “the social security system in Algeria guarantees a complete social insurance for all workers and their families."[/ecr]
