"In line with the instructions of the president of the Republic on the continuous monitoring of market supplies of consumer products and the protection of the purchasing power, Prime Minister Nadir Larbaoui chaired, on Saturday 27 July 2024, an inter-ministerial meeting to take the appropriate measures in the face of the rising world coffee prices and their impact on the local market," the statement said.

In this respect, many measures have been taken, including tax support for active economic operators in the sector, "ceiling on profit margins for imports and the wholesale and retail distribution, and the allocation of a green channel to importers by the customs services to facilitate import procedures for this product," the statement said.

The meeting was attended by the chairman of the Algerian Economic Renewal Council and a number of economic operators of the concerned sector, the statement concluded.
