Agricultural land: Over 1.2 million hectares of land to be developed through concession

ALGIERS- More than 1.2 million hectares of land from the state's private domain have been identified for development under the concession rehabilitation, Mohamed Ameziane Lanasri, the director general of the National Office of Agricultural Land, has announced.

In an interview with APS, Lanasri said that under the executive decree 21-432 of 4 November 2021, more than 1.2 million hectares of state-owned private land have been identified for development as part of the concession rehabilitation, where 113,713 hectares have been transferred to the Office for the Development of Industrial Agriculture in the Sahara Land, to be granted as part of strategic crop cultivation.

Lanasri said the operation was about new land as well as areas recovered from previous development programmes.

As for the pending regularisation of previous schemes in accordance with the executive decree 24-55 of 2024 modifying and supplementing the executive decree 21-432, Lanasri said that more than 27,000 files for a total area of 579,000 hectares, in 33 provinces, adding that 91% of the pending files have been addressed.[/ecr]
