Labour Minister receives Benin's SMEs Minister

ALGIERS- The minister of Labour, Employment and Social Security, Faysal Bentaleb, received Saturday, in Algiers, Benin's minister of SMEs and Promotion of Employment, Modeste Kerekou, on the sidelines of his participation in the third African Startup Conference, the ministry said in a statement.

In the meeting held at the ministry's headquarters, Bentaleb emphasized "Algeria's efforts for the promotion of employment and the fight against unemployment," underlining "Algeria's national policies to promote employment and reduce unemployment through innovative programmes encouraging investment in Algeria's human resources.

In this respect, different mechanisms have been put in place contributing to sustainable development and the decline of unemployment."

The minister underlined the "initiatives and programmes adopted to encourage young people to enter the job market, including the unemployment benefit for young people looking for work, the first of its kind in Algeria, supporting beneficiaries with the appropriate training."

He also mentioned "programmes meant to encourage the spirit of initiative and entrepreneurship, by introducing leave for employees to set up their own business."
