This decision was taken during the 113th meeting of the OAPEC Ministerial Council, held in Kuwait, with the participation of the Minister of State, Minister of Energy, Mines and Renewable Energy, Mohamed Arkab, and the ministers of member countries of the oil sector.

The decision will allow the Organization’s General Secretariat to continue efforts to develop OAPEC’s activities, the decision will also be implemented in accordance with the regulatory procedures of each member country, according to the same source.

This decision was taken following a “meticulous study and a comprehensive evaluation of the developments and challenges facing the energy sector at the national, regional and international levels, particularly in recent years,” added the same source, noting that “the accelerated changes related to the sector have imposed the revision and development of the Organization’s activities and goals in order to include all areas related to the energy sector.”

This action aims to “promote the role of the Organization as a catalyst for cooperation and expertise exchange between member countries on energy-related issues, to explore opportunities and address challenges facing this vital sector, while contributing to the development of skills and national capacities of member States in a sector considered a pillar of these States’ economies,” said the same source.

The General Secretariat of OAPEC affirmed that it would work tirelessly to materialize all points of the organization’s development plan in a “near future,” praising in this regard the support of member countries, represented by energy and petroleum ministers, and members of the organization’s executive bureau.

In a speech delivered in this respect, Arkab hailed the “considerable efforts made by the Organization with the aim of developing its activities and subsequently becoming a leading actor in the global organizations, in terms of performance and influence on the global energy landscape.”
