Held on the sidelines of the 41st Council of Arab Ministers for Housing and Urbanism, this conference, organized by the Ministry of Housing, Urbanism and City, aims to examine the role of governments and related sectors in improving housing and urban planning policies and their prospects.
It will also focus on technological developments in construction and sustainable urban development, while evaluating the implementation of the urban agenda related to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly Goal 11, through an integrated planning approach for cities, villages and constructions.
The congress will focus on 4 main axes: sustainable urbanism, decent and affordable housing, sustainable cities and quality of life, as well as green buildings and environmentally friendly construction materials.
The congress is in harmony with the United Nations Development Programme’s orientations for a housing and sustainable urban development strategy by 2030, particularly the goal of making cities and human settlements (UN-Habitat) inclusive, resilient and sustainable, an objective approved by the Arab League during the 30th Arab Ministers Council for Housing and Urbanism, according to the organizers.
The meeting also examined urban planning mechanisms, highlighting the importance of green buildings and the use of environmentally friendly construction materials.
