During the meeting of the National Commission for Evaluating Risks of Money Laundering, Terrorism Financing, and Financing of Weapons of Mass Destruction Proliferation (WMD), held Thursday at the ministry’s headquarters, Faid announced that 2025 will be “a pivotal year for the process of deepening economic reforms and supporting stability, but also for broadening the tax base, which will help manage risks related to the informal economy and cash operations.”

During this meeting, the minister recalled the need to “maintain the same work rhythm for the national coordination committee,” especially since the challenges ahead “tolerate no relaxation or delay.”

The meeting examined set priorities, notably proposals regarding “complementary measures to mitigate risks of money laundering, and financing and fighting terrorism, in order to submit them to the National Commission for approval,” according to the same source.

The meeting also allowed the discussion of the progress of the national coordination committee’s work on addressing the Financial Action Task Force (FATF) reservations.

Reviewing “the main decisions approved during the last meeting, as well as the key actions accomplished during the past period,” the minister highlighted “the important measures contained in the 2025 finance law, particularly the widespread adoption of electronic payment methods, which will enhance transaction transparency and ensure traceability, set to come into effect from January 2025.”
