The agreement was signed by the chairman of Alnaft, Mourad Beldjehem, and the director of New Global Projects at Chevron North Africa Ventures Ltd, Luca Rigo de Righi, under the supervision of the minister of State, minister of Energy, Mines and Renewable Energy, Mohamed Arkab, in the presence of the chairman and CEO of Sonatrach, Rachid Hachichi, and executives of the ministry, Alnaft and the American company.
The 24-month agreement aims to carry out an in-depth assessment of Algeria's offshore oil resources, and is a strategic step to enhance cooperation between Algeria and the company Chevron in the field of technical and geological studies. The agreement paves the way for exploration and development projects to unlock the full potential of our national hydrocarbon resources.
In an address, Beldjehem emphasized the importance of partnership between Alnaft and Chevron, noting that the agreement is "part of Alnaft agency's efforts to attract investments and build the technical capacity in offshore exploration."
Luca Rigo De Righi said he was "proud" to be involved in this project, which will support Algeria's efforts to develop the energy sector.
He added that the agreement shows "our commitment to support innovative and sustainable projects, in line with our vision for clean, reliable and affordable energy."
