ALGIERS – Sonatrach’s CEO, Rachid Hachichi, received Sunday a delegation of Mauritanian Hydrocarbon Society “SMH,” led by the Director General Ismail Abdelvettah, who is paying a working visit aimed at strengthening cooperation between the two parties, according to a press release of the group.

‘‘In a move reflecting the depth of bilateral relations between Algeria and Mauritania in energy, Sonatrach’s CEO , Rachid Hachichi, received on Sunday, at Sonatrach headquarters, the delegation of the Mauritanian Hydrocarbon Society “SMH,” led by Ismail Abdelvettah, who is conducting a working visit in order to reinforce bilateral relations between the two parties.”

 

This visit will explore partnership opportunities between the two parties, said the same source.

 

During these discussions, ‘‘ Investment opportunities were discussed, as well as the execution of strategic projects of common interest, encompassing all stages of the hydrocarbon value chain from exploration and production to commercialization,” emphasised the press release.

 

Both sides highlighted ‘‘the importance of strengthening joint efforts to explore and develop oil resources, in order to ensure optimal exploitation of the natural potential available in Mauritania”, as stated in the group's communiqué, adding that  these efforts are ‘‘part of a strategic vision to deepen cooperation in the fields of exploration, transport and processing for the benefit of the common interests of both parties”.

The Mauritanian delegation is on a four-day visit to Algeria, during and will visit production and training facilities coming under Sonatrach. 

These visits will allow the delegation to learn about the Group’s industrial expertise and productive capabilities, including advanced operational processes and modern techniques adopted in the activities, according to the communiqué.
